After 27 years of guiding on the Muskegon River, I have decided it was time for a change. For those of you that might not know, I started a real estate business in 2018 and have enjoyed its growth since. With the growth of my new business it has become increasingly difficult to operate both businesses simultaneously. After much consideration I have decided to sell RiverQuest Charters.
Tom and his son Max Werkman have purchased RiverQuest Charters from me and I’m excited for them. Over the past couple of years they have both guided clients for RiverQuest Charters. Some of you may have met them on recent trips. Together they own Werkman Outfitters which is another Orvis Endorsed Outfitter in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Together have been guiding for a good number of years on the Grand and White River’s and are very familiar with the Muskegon. They are great teachers, very personable, and fun to spend a day with.
RiverQuest Charters will still be RiverQuest Charters, the guides you have come to know Tom Kuieck, Tim Oliphant, and Jay Allen will still be the guides, although you’ll see more of Tom and Max. My role going forward is to share my knowledge of the Muskegon River’s wonderful fishery as a mentor to Tom & Max and perhaps guide/teach on a limited basis.
