We’ll take it

Former education colleagues Dave and Tom joined me for a gorgeous day on the Manistee today. Tom started us off in fine fashion with his second or third cast and found himself fast to a 6lb. summer run Steelhead, which he deftly boated. Great job, Tom! Our hooking and landing percentages on salmon weren’t so hot, but the guys pressed on despite a number of fish that found various and sundry ways of eluding the net. Not to be denied, though, Dave came through big time with the largest king brought in my boat this year (or for a number of years for that matter): 22 lbs. on the Boga. Even better, the buck totally inhaled Dave’s Antron Hex. Tom had his shot on a big male that was so red, one would could have nearly mistaken it for a Kenai King, but one crashing leap, and it was over.

Thanks guys for a wonderful time. You’re the best! Oh, and Dave, the name of the bars is Nature Valley Almond Crunch.

Pictured are Tom with his steelhead and Dave with his big boy King.
