Never underestimate the power of a day on the water by father and son to make a memory! Dan and his high school senior son, Dirk, had some tales to tell upon arriving home. Lets’ see—there was the Ginormous sucker/walleye double-up on one cast! Never had that one before… Or, the brand new Rapala brought to hand with one of our flies festooned around it…Or, hey, how ’bout some sweet steelhead? That, too! After a tough morning, some love from fellow guide and Son Steve got Dirk going with a nice six pound hen followed by more hookups and this gorgeous hen and good looking buck boated by Dad Dan. Both were steak fish. All the guides know it’s an immutable truth: start cooking and the clients start hooking! Had to shut down the grill on Dan’ hen. Mint bright from the lake, she tore us up before Dan prevailed. All in all, a wonderful day full of memories for two great guys and their guide. And, hey, the two stage steaks weren’t that bad either, the guys said. So, congrats, Dirk and Dan! I was honored to be a part of your day together.
