Great day on the water with fellow RiverQuest guide Jay Allen. Temps in the low 40’s, sunshine, and hungry trout: what a combination! Today was classroom time for yours truly; Jay has researched, seined, tied, experimented, and probed spot after spot in search of winning combinations for the Muskegon’s winter trout. And figure it out he has. We enjoyed a wonderful day of trout feeding on what they thought were real live scuds. Surprise, surprise! The teacher taught and the student learned. I even brought a good number to hand. Pictured is Jay putting the hammer down and then releasing a fat brownie. All in all, a wonderfully rewarding day of fly fishing.
