I had the distinct pleasure of hosting a totally fun husband/wife team today. Mary and Jim were celebrating their 20th anniversary on the river fly fishing. Now that’s an enlightened celebration! No boring recycling of the same anniversary restaurant for dinner. No way! Give Mary and Jim a streamside grilled steak dinner, and they are happy campers! Although the weather was soggy, spirits ran high all day as Mary and Jim quickly caught on to the requisite casting, line management, and fish fighting techniques. The fish cooperated, rewarding Mary and Jim’s fly fishing endeavors with steady hookups through the day. Our best fly, hands-down, was once again the Antron Hex. Even one of the Muskegon’s resident rainbows decided the fly looked like a tasty morsel. As the day progressed, more and more fish presented themselves and increased their movement and spawning activity in general. In short, things are looking very promising for kings on the Muskegon in the days ahead.

Pictured are Mary and Jim with a couple of hens and a buck. Thanks, Mary and Jim, for a most enjoyable time! You guys are one super couple! Congratulations on your anniversary! May God grant you many more.
