Glory on the Ice and the Fly Rod

Seemed a little more like fall today on the Muskegon. Low skies, drizzle, and brightly colored maple trees made for perfect fall day of fly fishing. Now if we could just work on the river level a bit! Dave and I hosted the Bowen group today, and this year we would have a couple new faces to add the the group.  Mike (first-timer) and professional hockey player, popped the cork on a couple nice steelhead and I couldn’t have been happier for him. Hopefully this will mark the beginning of a new found passion?  Salmon numbers continue to improve and with them the steelhead will follow. If your venturing out on the Mo’ anytime soon, please be careful, there are a lot of rocks showing that you’ve probably never seen before! Pictured above is Mike, and Bernie (lower) with a beautiful Muskegon River brown.
