John Sommerdyke and company Jerry, Mike, and Don Vroon joined Dave and I for a beautiful sunny day on the Manistee. Salmon fishing was up to expectations today as the guys left with soar arms. John Sommerdyke was top dog with an 19lbs hen chinook today though a number of 17lbs fish were successfully landed. Green caddis and antron hex patterns were top producers in my boat. The fish yesterday made some hearty attemps to hit the gravel but with the warm sun today most held in the dark water. There is no real significant rain in the forecast for the next several days so we will rely on the cool night temperatures to promote the travels of new fish. Traffic on the river has increased since the word of a “few” on gravel but the overall fishing pressure is no where near the calendar date. Picture is the crew with a few from today.

Tight lines,
