Young people with fly rods in hand are our fly fishing future so it was great to get my youngest son Ryan on the river after church and family dinner. Between his Saturday job and school and dad Tom guiding each day, Ryan had not had an opportunity to fish for steelhead this year. As it turned out, the steelhead cooperated, and put some big smiles on Ryan’s face. Once again, caddis nymphs—first in green and then in lower light, chartreuse—did the trick.
