Well it official- first day in shorts and sandals; I am happy! I know the high skies and warm temperature don’t make for text book steelhead fishing conditions but I for one am loving it! We spend way too many days under lots of fleece.

Pat McGee and his clients Dave and Brook spent the day probing the nooks and crannies of the dark stuff looking for chrome. We were not disappointed fresh new chrome is available if you are willing to work hard and deal with lots of snags. Small stone flies in the afternoon and caddis in the mornings seem to be the best means of attack. Egg patterns have been over played lately and the fish seem to know the real from the fake; best to go natural with your small nymphs. Swung flies should be good if we could ever get the parade of boats to allow the glides to relax. Pictured are a few from today.
