Rob and his business colleague, Matt, spent the day with me on the river—or should I say “rivers” since the Muskegon was flowing nearly twice as high as its mean flow of about 3300 cfs. Just over 6000 gave us lots of water and zero visibility. But prevail, both Rob and Matt did, managing to put steelhead, along with our everpresent wallies, in the boat, plus some stream trout that earned some premature releases. Blessed we were today with sunshine for a change, though we had ice in the guides when we started. Best fly today again was the chartreuse and Oregon cheese nuke egg.
