Easy in January?

I had to finally put the office duties aside and grab my dad to hit the water. 2010 is looking to be on track with 2008 for bookings so if you are on the fence about a guide trip or a get-a-way at the lodge don’t wait too long or your opportunity to join us might slip away.

With a short made-to-order day on the river in store we started the day with fat lines and floats only to abandon the technique due to line ice and a persistent East breeze that made mending challenging from time to time.  The river is flowing a very nice rate currently but the clarity is very clear. Small nymphs and very pale egg patterns are effective. Today the fish preferred nymphs- small stones, fry, and Anton hex patterns. Surprisingly with the 34-35 degree water temperatures the steelhead were very fast and long fighters. Pictured is my dad- Capt. Tom with a nice buck from today.
